Frequently asked

Nationwide delivery — common questions.

Quick answers to the things buyers ask before placing a reservation. If your question isn't here, call us — average call is 8 minutes.

Do you deliver shipping containers to all 50 states?
Yes. Giant Lockbox delivers shipping containers nationwide — every U.S. state plus DC. NY, NJ, PA, CT, MA, RI, NH, VT, and ME ship directly from our Middletown, NY yard via our own tilt-bed delivery fleet. All other states are dispatched through vetted regional partner depots that meet our same condition standards.
How long does delivery take to my state?
Northeast direct: typically 48 hours from order confirmation. Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and Midwest: 3–5 business days. Plains, Mountain, and West Coast: 7–14 business days. The exact lead time depends on your delivery address, container availability, and trucking capacity — your placement expert confirms the date on the phone before any charge.
How much does delivery cost?
Delivery cost varies by distance, container size, site access, and truck type required. Short-haul Northeast deliveries with our own trucks typically run $250–$600. Mid-distance trips through partner carriers run $450–$1,200. Long-haul cross-country routing can range $900–$2,400. You get an exact all-in number before you authorize payment — no surprise fees at delivery.
Do I need a permit to have a container delivered?
Permit rules vary by city and county, not by state. Most rural and suburban placements don't require one. Urban placements, HOA properties, and historic districts often do. Your placement expert can flag known permit hotspots during your call, but you're responsible for confirming local requirements before delivery.
What does my site need for a successful delivery?
For a 20-foot container with our standard tilt-bed truck: roughly 75 feet of clear straight run, 12 feet wide, 14 feet of overhead clearance, and a firm level surface (gravel pad, concrete, or compacted soil). Your placement expert walks the site requirements during the phone call.
What if I need a container in a state you don't directly serve?
Every state in the country is served — just with different lead times. States where we ship from regional partner depots get the exact same container grading (cargo-worthy, one-trip, etc.), the same modification options, and the same condition guarantees. The only difference is transit time and final delivery cost.
Not sure how delivery works in your state?

Call before you reserve.

We walk every site before delivery — slope, soft ground, narrow gates, low wires. We'd rather diagnose the access in a 10-minute call than send a truck that can't make the placement.
